General Appearance:

The Pumi is a lively, tireless and lively, very courageous and against unknown persons distrustful dog. It was not used   only as a sheep dog but also and above all as a cattle dog. It has a very good sense of smell, and when it works it is quite loud. This rather lively dog is literally tireless and extremely courageous. Although it is restless until irascible, it fits thank to its intelligence and docility as a companion dog. It is constantly alert and ready for any activity. Shyness or phlegmatic behaviour is totally unusual.

Temperament/Behaviour:

It requires a warm, very consistent leadership and patience in education. People restless and impatient, inconsistent these owners cannot bring up the dog as controllable dog.

It can live in the countryside and in the city. Seamlessly it can be bred in the apartment. However, it needs a lot of movement and a job, one of the best training dog sports (agility, obedience, etc.). It is an ideal companion for people that like the buzz and constant action.

By character it reminds to Terriers, which confirms the best expression of its face and eyes. Its overall appearances desire for some activities and its unceasing activity and entrepreneurship are all parts of its body are constantly on the move.

Body:

This is a medium sized dog of balanced slender appearance and square body frame. Height at withers, male is 41 to 47 cm for female is 38 to 44 cm, weight of body is between 10-15 kg for female between 8 to 13 kg.

The head should be relatively long and narrow with a typically elongated muzzle. Skull above is relatively broad and domed, long forehead may be only slightly arched. Brow-ridges are adequately marked. The frontal slope is almost imperceptible, with the muzzle tapers to the nose. Nasal bridge must be straight and narrow nose, blunt-ended, always black.

Lips tight fitting to the jaws and teeth and are on the edges dark. The jaws should be strong, relatively large teeth, and white solid. Teeth correspond to the dental formula the bite is a regular, complete scissor.

Cheeks are sufficiently muscled, adequately eyes wide apart and slightly oblique, medium-sized, oval, dark brown, lively and intelligent expression. The rims are pigmented.

Ears should be set high, medium sized, evenly carried and shaped like an inverted "V" top third obliquely tilted forward. Nimbly respond to any stimuli.

The neck should be moderately long, the neck is slightly arched, well muscled, carried high. Body has to be sufficiently dry and extremely tightly muscled. Topline of body is straight and level. Croup is short, slightly sloping and moderately broad.

The tail should be set high and forms a wide circle above the croup. On the underside of the coat is long 7-12 cm. Wiry standing apart with little undercoat. Bobtail or docked tail is inadmissible.

Chest should be equal to the front, the chest is long and deep, reaching the elbow and ribs are slightly arched surface. The forelegs are vertical, parallel and not too far apart. The body coat consists of a harsh, but not coarse outer coat and a soft undercoat. The coat should be moderately long, wavy and forms tufts and curls. It should never be either smooth or corded. The pistils are long, 4-7 cm and grow in smaller or larger tufts, which are elastic, shaggy and dense. The desirable appearance of the hair coat is achieved by trimming. Smaller corrections, done with scissors on head and legs, are possible overall treatment of hair with scissors is not desirable.

Hair colouring can be grey, black, blond or white, but must always be united and vibrant. Grey and fawn colour may be different hue, as well as reddish, yellowish and creamy. Desirable is a blackish or grayish tinged primary colours and dark mask on its face.
