Brazilian Terrier - Group 3 Terriers, Section 1: Large and medium sized Terriers.

General Appearance:

It's a very lively, vivacious, extremely clever and agile dog that can occur when needed and necessary dose of sharpness. Its behaviour is a sovereign like all terriers. It is always ready and willing to shed, sometimes with a somewhat disproportionate vigour, completely without fear and with unmatched vigour, in any activity.

The famous people are extremely friendly and gentle, strangers must gradually accustom. Originally, on haciendas, these dogs commonly applied in the control of rodents and small carnivores, later fully proven as sociable dogs. Brazilian Terrier is kind and playful, but always to be reckoned with tremendous energy it spends on any activity, so it is definitely not the best breed for your lap.

Temperament/Behaviour:

It excels at intelligence, and so unexpectedly learns quickly. Easily and quickly handle commands, because in contact with the instructor is very attentive. But it is also very independent and sometimes it can be a bit stubborn. It is intelligent and therefore tends to cause its own opinion. It should not be a reason for its punishment   and it could undermine the relationship between it and the owner. The owner only needs with absolute calm, gently, but with unyielding vigour to assert their opinion.

Although from an early age accustomed to living together with children and no way jeopardizes them, never it can be lat alone, only with supervising. Urgently it needs plenty of exercise and opportunities for physical activity. Besides the physical job also requires some mental.

Body:

This is a medium-sized, slender dog balanced, strong, but never too heavy body, square body frame that is rounded contoured lines and clearly at first sight different from smooth Fox Terriers. This requirement standard indirectly confirms that in the veins of Brazilian Terrier circulates blood considerable share of this breed, which is equal to an outline of the body is very typical. That is why they are highly undesirable for Brazilian Terriers

Height at withers, male from35 to 40 cm for female, ranging from 33 to 38 cm. Weight of body can be max. 10 kg.

The head should be seen from above the shape of a triangle. The widest in the occipital region of the eye toward the nose narrows significantly. When viewed from the side lines of the muzzle rises slightly from the tip of the nose towards the front slope (stop). Line of slope between the eyes rises when viewed in profile sharply upward and into the top line of the skull, which takes place in a gentle arc to occipital area.

Muzzle matches when viewed from above, the shape of equilateral triangle whose vertices form a nose and two outer eye corners. Continuously expands towards the base, which merges into the front slope. Must be strong and well made (forfeited) in under the eyes. The nose has a corresponding size, wide nostrils and be dark coloured.

Lips dry and close fitting to the jaws and teeth. The upper overlaps the lower. When closed, the mouth must completely cover the teeth. The cheeks are dry but sufficiently muscled. It requires a complete set of teeth consists of 42 teeth and scissor bite. The teeth must be well developed (appropriately large) and jaws regularly spaced.

Eyes are middle distance between the occipital area and the tip of the nose. It connects or their inner eye corners   divide a tot and the edge of heads into two equal halves. They must be kept far enough apart so that the distance between the two outer corners of the eye equals the distance from the outer corner of eye to nose. They are straight and slightly protruding. They are big with slight bony ridges. The blue-coloured dogs may have blue-grey eye, brown may be brown, green or blue.

The earlobes are set at large, fairly wide apart, at the level of the eye. They are triangular, pointed tops, half-pricked and folded down ahead of spikes that reach to the outer corners of the eye. They must never be cropped.

The neck must have adequate length which corresponds as well as strength, head size. It flows into the body. Although it is powerful, it must be thin, dry, slightly arched in the nape. Upper body lines must be straight, firm from withers towards rear slightly sloping. The back should be rather short and well muscled.

The tail should be low. In the country of origin of the breed is usually shorter, but may be congenitally short or long. In this case, it must not interfere with its end below the hock. Unabridged tail should not be too long but should be adequately strong and cheerfully, i.e. carried upward, but not curled over the back.

Front feet are closed (with tightly closed toes) called hare (oval-shaped) and may be neither turned in nor out. Two middle fingers should be longer than the other. Hind feet are closed and feet longer than the forelegs. Considerable emphasis is placed on an elegant, free and fast movement and quick step.

Skin should be fine and should fit snugly to the skeletal muscle and subcutaneous tissue, should never be too loose. The coat is short, smooth, fine but not soft. It reminds hair black rat or rat. It fits tightly to the skin. It must be so thick that it could not be seen through the skin. There is finer hair on the head, earlobe, on the inner sides and end parts of the forelegs and back of the thighs.

Colour should be mostly white with black, brown or blue markings. They must not miss the tan markings above the eyes, on both sides of the muzzle and inside and on the edges of the earlobes. Bounded tan markings may also be found in other parts of the body. On the head should not be missing black, brown or blue-coloured plates on the forehead and earlobes. There are, however, permitted and white markings, and the sides of the muzzle and the forehead, where they form a narrow "baldness". They have to be the most symmetrical ever.
