General Appearance:

Slovakian Chuvach is balanced, confident and independent dog. It has a highly developed sense of territoriality, so it is an excellent watchdog.

Training/Behaviour:

It is not suitable breed for beginners. The owner needs to be gifted by natural authority and acting consistently, calm, prudent and patient. Important to the outcome of education is a relationship. Its training must be targeted and purposeful. Despite its independence and seemingly minor fixation it cannot bearer endure difficult to change the owner. The owner and its family it is loyal, but it may always stay in family company. With children it is getting well, but they should not be really small, you can learn how to behave and deal with this breed.

It requires early socialization and widest, if it is not its cohabitation with small pets problem. To unknown persons it closely guards, if it is not familiar with them, it tolerates them. To the other dogs it tends to act dominantly, but proper socialization it can dampen this tendency to a tolerable level. However if it attacks, it resists very vigorously.

It is highly adaptable. It can be all year round in the outdoor kennel, but regular and sufficient contact with people this dog desperately needs. It needs plenty of exercise the best is, if the possibility of free ranges on the fenced property. Otherwise, it is necessary to undertake a long and hearty walks. If it is really well behaved in all situations reliably operate, it must be kept a leash. Professional training for this breed it is not the most appropriate activity.

Body:

This is a herding dog of firm constitution, impressive physique, strong bones and thick white coat, the body is slightly rectangular format. Height at withers, male is from 62 to 70 cm for female is from  59 to 65 cm, weight of body is  from 36 to 44 kg male and 31-37 kg female.

The skull is thick, elongated shape, appropriately wide, eyebrows are adequately marked and bow down to the sides, the crown should be flat. The occipital protuberance is obvious, slightly rounded, stop must be gradual.

The muzzle should be strong and tapering slightly to a blunt nose black. Muzzle must be viewed straight from the side. The lips are not, they should be medium thick and fitting to the jaws and teeth. Mucosa at the edges of the lips is pigmented in black, forming a narrow frame of its mouth. Palatum of the mouth should be black. Strong jaws are full complement of teeth, regularly arranged, scissor bite is required.

The eyes are dark brown, oval, horizontal, keen perspective. The eyelids must be black at the edges. Third eyelid (i.e. the third eyelid) at the inner corner is dark pigmentation. The earlobes are set high, hanging, with mobile bases, medium-length "V" against the head. Since the mid-length of their hair is short and mild. In repose, the rounded tops most corners of the mouth.

The neck should be firmly embedded in the trunk and in the heat of passion held high, the back should be straight, medium length and strong, loin slightly arched, well muscled, moderately long and very strong, firmly attached to the croup, which is strong, broad, long and slightly sloping.

The tail should be slightly below and in repose hanging, reaching to the hocks. It has roughly the shape of a cigar and must be level. The tip should not curl into a circle. The movement should be carried arch curled over loin.

Chest broad front, ribs are moderately arched, sloping to the rear. The abdomen should be tucked up slightly as well as weaknesses. Forelegs position straight, pillar-like, relatively fairly long blades are steep, long, heavily muscled shoulder bones fixed to the chest and slanted towards the elbows. Forearm should be vertical to ground, muscular and long, bony wrists and strong, pasterns short, strong, slightly oblique. Feet are round, closed with strong, tight-knit, strongly arched toes, strong nails and full black-coloured padded.

Tibia near the hind legs is oblique, long and muscular. Hocks should be strong, strong, broad and bony, with blunt angle, fetlocks should be short and strong, vertical to ground, without any narrowing associated with hocks. Dewclaws are undesirable. Movement is light and nimble on all terrain and in any weather.

The coat is thick with the exception of the head and end parts of the legs bushy hair "fur" without a parting in the middle of the back, "flag" on the tail and the "pants" on the back of the thighs. Males make up the neck distinct "mane", which begins at the base of the ears. Guard hair completely covering undercoat, are 5-15 cm long, the strongest in the mane, others may be slightly wavy, spine forming a plurality of transverse waves of contiguous semi wavy. The undercoat is soft, dense, such as papers, about half to two-thirds the length of hair.

Colouration should be pure white, yellowish tinge at the base of the ears it is permissible but undesirable. Distinct yellow patches are not permitted. The coat requires regular care.

For defects are considered any deviations from the requirements of the standard. Their severity is assessed according to their statement. To negative defects counts over- or undershot jaw, even bite, yellow spots in the coat, bright eyes completely, incompletely pigmented nose, cryptorchidism.
